South East Reserve Forces & Cadets Association

:: The Surrey ACF Club       -       Founded 21 June 2009

On the 21st June 2009 an inaugural meeting of the Club was held at County Headquarters , Farncombe.

At the meeting, past Commandant, Colonel David Cox OBE and Captain Gerry Risby explained the idea of the Club which was to provide an outlet for mulling over old times and to foster comradeship amongst past members of Surrey Army Cadet Force, both Officers, Adult Instructors, Cadets and others involved with the organization. Past or retired rank will have no bearing in the club, all will be equal.

The Club will also provide a mechanism for members to keep in touch with current SACF activities. The SACF Annual Review will be sent to members.

A committee was formed to organize events and deal with administration keeping members informed of events which will be at least twice a year with a newsletter being sent out periodically, either by electronic mail or by post to all current members. Members are required to pay an annual subscription fee which will be agreed at an appropriate event by members present. Any surplus after the expenditure for stationery etc will be used at the next event.

In the event of the club ceasing to exist then any funds left over to be given to Surrey Army Cadet Force for the benefit of the cadets.

Membership. At end of 2009 there were 33 signed up members with 8 more that want to join but have not yet signed up. SACF have several honorary members including the Deputy Commandants, Brendon Cooney (Catering Officer), CEO, Nigel Nicholson (Padre) and David Williams (MO).

Subscription -  £5 minimum p.a. (can donate more if wish)  to cover admin and towards events. Cheques payable to “Surrey ACF”. The need for future subscriptions is to be discussed on 21 Feb 2010.

Spreading The Word. Serving members of SACF may know of ex members and so please spread the word. When Adults and Officers leave, they will be given details of the Club as part of their “leaving documents”.
